Tacos de Carnitas

If you are looking for a diverse meat that can be used in several recipes, Carnitas is it. Pepper Plant Seasoning is the magic ingredient because it not only delivers great flavor, but it makes cooking so easy. This recipe literally took me less than 20 minutes to assemble. I tossed all the ingredients in the slow cooker, walked away to do homework and by 6pm dinner was done. My guys (husband and son) could not wait for dinner. The aroma coming from the kitchen had them asking over and over when dinner would be ready.

Ingredients to make Carnitas

I chose to make Tacos de Carnitas with a simple cabbage salad, pickled red onions and salsa, but there are so many dishes you can make with Carnitas. This recipe is great for burritos, pulled pork sandwiches, quesadillas, chilaquiles and so much more. This is a great party recipe, because it is cheap, feeds a lot of people and so simple.

Ingredients

  • 5 pounds of Pork Shoulder Butt
  • 1 tablespoon The Pepper Plant Seasoning
  • 3 Bay leaves
  • ½ teaspoon of Black Peppercorn
  • 1 Orange juiced

Instructions

  1. Slice pork into chunks and trim some of the fat.
  2. Place in slow cooker and season with The Pepper Plant Seasoning.
  3. Add bay leaves, peppercorn and orange juice.
  4. Cover and cook in slow cooker for 8 hours on low or for 5 hours on high.

Prep. 20 min. | Cook 5 hrs. (high) / 8 hrs. (low) |
